Duckboard planks (Pitkospuut) are familiar to Finns already from our childhood lacquer-picking trips and the wilderness of Lapland. It is light and good to walk along them with bare feet in the summer. The warm plank feels good against the soles of the feet. Duckboard planks are well suited for cottages' walkways and paths. A passage is often made from the main building to the sauna and from the sauna to the beach.
A passageway made of duckboard planks is durable and mostly does not require any care. When it is slightly raised from the ground, it also stays dry and clean by itself when the wind blows away the biggest needles and debris from the path. The duckboard path is also a good solution for recreation areas.
